Walnut Creek is a gorgeous, affluent suburb just outside San Francisco. This lively East Bay community is an idyllic oasis and the very peak of contemporary California living. With stunning views of Mount Diablo and the surrounding foothills, this is an incredible place to call home.

Walnut Creek began as a confluence of large tracts of land used for growing and ranching, housing hotels, stores, a blacksmith shop, and a post office. The city center grew with the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad and Northern Sacramento Railroad in the late 19th century. And with a population boom in the 1950s, it became one of the most sought-after suburbs in the region.

The walkable downtown area is lined with upscale boutiques, coffee shops, and fine eateries. And outside of the city center, there are plenty of parks, hiking trails, and preserves to enjoy California's natural beauty. With so much to offer, it is no wonder Walnut Creek has long topped the list of best places to live in Contra Costa County.
